Caching has changed again. As we examine exactly what is
occurring, we have noted that caching seems to back in the
User’s home folder in the
~/Library/Caches/Metadat/Safari/History
Note: Safari v3.1.1 and current
Caching has moved! Look for it in the /private/var/folders
directory now!
Safari
When Leopard was released, Safari version 3 came to life.
Safari version 3 is now available to Tiger users as well, and
even on Windows XP and Vista machines! You can find Safari on
the
iPhone and even the iPod
now. Web browsing is happening everywhere in he Mac
world and it important we know a little bit about it.
Safari v3 makes use of SQLite v3 database files for its cache
and history. if you happen to be a SQLite Pro, congrats, you
will feel right at home here. For the rest of us, there is
File Juicer. It is a wonderful
application that makes a great report of everything
contained within the Safari caches. Even better, it
works with Safari v2 and many, many other files. I
highly recommend you check it out. (Unless of course you
are the SQLite Pro and want to really show off for your
friends.)
Safari v3 has some options that make it quite easy for the
user to delete internet browsing remnants. Be aware of the
choice in the Safari preferences, and then be aware of the
same setting in the
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
~/Library/Caches is still an excellent place to look, but if
you own File Juicer, you need not waste time roaming
aimlessly!
file for your investigation.
